Raymond Briggs: A Retrospective is a touring exhibition from the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration currently being shown at Cambridge University Library’s Milstein Exhibition Centre.
It presents Raymond Briggs’ most significant works, such as The Snowman, Fungus the Bogeyman and Ethel and Ernest, and never before seen original illustrations with hand-lettered typography.
The exhibition offers a rare window into Raymond Briggs’ world, showcasing his original sketches and thought process. Taking inspiration from this, a concept was born that uses his name as a frame for his artworks and allows us to look in. Large imagery coupled with large typography and a pastel colour palette allows Briggs’ work to sing and his name to take centre stage.
