Picture Britain: Our People, Our Poverty was a photography exhibition in London’s Borough Market, commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Comic Relief. Highlighting the resilience of those living in poverty in Britain, it featured portraits by Jillian Edelstein and stories by Stephen Armstrong.

The exhibition and identity used framing devices to give each person a prominent space to tell their story. It asked participants “What is the one thing you could not live without?” to emphasise commonalities despite economic differences.

Although designed to be safely transported around the UK, COVID-19 prevented these plans. Campaign mediums included various sheets, digital underground billboards, flyposting, digital ads, and print advertisements like TimeOut magazine that the audience can enjoy at their own pleasure.
